Cotton French Terry is defined by its dual-texture construction: a smooth, clean face and a looped pile on the reverse. Our French Terry is 100% pure cotton and comes to a finished 230–240 GSM, which provides the perfect blend of warmth and comfort without unnecessary bulk, while preserving breathability and a soft hand feel.

French Terry’s balance of absorbency and insulation makes it well suited to the Indian climate and similar humid environments. It wicks moisture better than synthetic backings, offers a comfortable next-to-skin feel, and provides sufficient recovery for everyday wear. Designers use it for premium T-shirts, oversized silhouettes, sweatshirts, hoodies, joggers and comfortable post-workout layers where a heavier hand than jersey is required without the weight of full fleece.

The looped reverse creates natural insulation pockets while allowing airflow, so garments retain warmth without becoming stifling. The smooth face keeps the appearance neat and professional, and the looped structure reduces visible wrinkling—qualities that make French Terry a preferred choice for premium T-shirts, oversized fits, sweatshirts, joggers, and athleisure pieces designed for both standalone wear and layering.

Quality, Process & Testing

At Plakads we control key stages of the supply chain—yarn procurement, knitting and dyeing—so fabric integrity is not an afterthought. Every production batch undergoes laboratory verification for cotton purity, GSM accuracy, tensile strength, shrinkage control, pilling resistance and dimensional stability. Color fastness is validated through controlled dyeing and post-treatment; each dye lot is tested for wash fastness, rub (crocking) fastness, perspiration fastness and light fastness to ensure consistent shade retention under normal use. Full lab reports and test certificates are available on request; please email us to request the same.

Our manufacturing tolerances are tight: loop density, loop height, stitch uniformity and dye-lot consistency are monitored so samples match bulk production. That repeatability is what sourcing teams and production planners look for when they need reliable fabric across multiple PO runs.

Maintenance Guidelines

Cotton French Terry is low maintenance. Machine wash in cold to warm water (30–40°C) with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid chlorine bleach and harsh oxidizers that degrade fibers and dyes. Turn garments inside out before washing to protect prints and reduce wear on the face. Tumble dry on low or air dry in shade to preserve dimensional stability and colour; excessive heat can increase shrinkage. Ironing is rarely needed thanks to the looped backing; if required, iron on a low setting from the reverse side and avoid direct contact with prints or embellishments. No routine dry cleaning is necessary under normal use.

Why Plakads

Our French Terry is the result of focused R&D and hands-on production control. Pure cotton composition, strict testing, and consistent dye-lot management deliver fabric that meets technical specifications and practical performance expectations. For buyers who require transparency and repeatability, we provide lab documentation on demand and stand behind the fabric’s quality in production runs.

Engineered for makers who expect consistency and performance, our 230–240 GSM Cotton French Terry is built to perform at scale.
