Cotton Pique is a textured knit recognised for its raised, “bird’s-eye” or dobby surface that gives polo shirts their characteristic structure. Our Pique is 100% pure cotton, spun from 24s–26s ring-spun, combed and compacted yarn, finished to 210–220 GSM depending on the colour and dye lot.

The knit geometry — controlled tuck stitches and loop formation — creates micro air pockets that improve breathability and quick drying while providing a firm hand and clean drape. Collars hold shape, hems stay neat and the face resists cling, which makes Pique ideal for polo shirts, collar T-shirts, smart casuals and applications such as straps and appliqué bases.

This structure reduces surface contact with the body, improving airflow and perceived coolness in humid climates while still delivering the crisp aesthetic designers want on shelf and in production.

Quality Assurance & Why Plakads

We design quality into every roll by controlling yarn selection, knitting parameters and finishing. Combing and compacting improve fibre alignment and reduce neps; precision circular knitting sets stitch uniformity, tuck depth and loop definition to the target specification. Tubular dyeing with controlled chemistry delivers even penetration, while bio-washing and compaction simulate first-wash behaviour to produce pre-shrunk fabric with a consistent hand.

Starching, controlled compaction and stenter finishing are used to stabilise dimensions and minimise residual shrinkage, giving production-ready fabric that tracks predictably from sample to bulk. The stenter step also allows us to apply and fix technical finishes and set width and dimensional stability precisely.

Every lot is laboratory-verified for cotton purity, GSM accuracy, tensile strength, dimensional stability, pilling resistance and colour fastness (wash, rub and light). Typical production results deliver predictable residual shrinkage within industry expectations (practically trimmed to under ~0.5 inch across typical garment panels). Commercial options — 20 kg roll per colour, 37" tubular width, export packing, alternate GSMs, silicon finishes and matching collars/cuffs on larger orders — support reliable sourcing and scale. Full test reports and certificates are available on request; email us for lab documentation for any specific lot.

Care & Maintenance

Cotton Pique is low maintenance and built for frequent use. Machine wash at 30–40°C with a mild, pH-neutral detergent and avoid chlorine bleach. Turn garments inside out to protect texture and embroidery. Tumble dry on low or air dry in shade; excessive heat can increase shrinkage despite pre-shrinking processes. Press lightly on a low setting from the reverse side if needed to preserve the raised pique texture. Routine dry cleaning is not required for normal use.
