Fabric Dyeing Process:

Fabric Dyeing is a process where raw or greige fabric is immersed in a dye bath to impart colour. At Plakads Apparel, we focus on fabric dyeing to ensure the highest quality and consistency. Here’s a brief overview of our fabric dyeing process:

1. Preparation: The fabric is pre-treated to remove impurities and enhance dye uptake. This involves processes such as scouring and bleaching.
2. Dyeing: The prepared fabric is submerged in a dye bath where dye molecules penetrate the fibers. We use high-quality dyes and maintain precise control over temperature, time, and pH to achieve uniform coloring.
3. Rinsing: The dyed fabric is thoroughly rinsed to remove excess dye and chemicals.
4. Fixing: To ensure colorfastness, a fixing agent is applied to help bind the dye to the fabric fibers.
5. Drying: The fabric is then dried using controlled heat to stabilize the color and prepare it for further processing.

Additionally, we bio-wash (enzyme wash), all our in-stock fabrics for a softer feel. Bio-wash, also known as enzyme wash, involves treating the fabric with enzymes to remove loose fibers and reduce pilling. This process enhances the fabric’s softness and appearance, ensuring a smooth, high-quality finish. All our in-stock fabrics undergo bio-washing to ensure they feel great and have increased longevity. 

Garment Dyeing Process

Garment Dyeing is performed after the garment is constructed, allowing for unique finishes and effects. At Plakads Apparel, we offer two main types of garment dyeing: tie-dye and acid wash.

1. Preparation: The garment is pre-washed to remove any impurities in case of tie-dye, the garment is tied or bound in specific areas to resist dye penetration, creating patterns. 
2. Dyeing & Treatment: The tied garment is immersed in a dye bath. Multiple colors can be applied to achieve various effects while for Acid Wash, A mixture of pumice stones soaked in a weak acid solution is used to create abrasion on the fabric surface, resulting in a distressed, faded look. 
3. Setting & Neutralizing: The dye is fixed to ensure colorfastness while for acid wash, the garment is neutralized to stop the acid reaction. 
4. Rinsing and Drying: The garment is rinsed to remove excess dye and then dried. 

Silicon Finishes

Silicon finishes are applied to fabrics to impart various functional properties, enhancing the performance and feel of the final garment. At Plakads Apparel, we offer several silicon finishes, including aroma finish, softener finish, hydrophobic finish, moisture absorbent finish, and anti-bacterial finish. The aroma finish infuses the fabric with a pleasant fragrance that lasts through multiple washes, although the fragrance may diminish over time. The softener finish increases the softness and smoothness of the fabric, improving comfort, but overuse can make the fabric feel too slippery. The hydrophobic finish makes the fabric water-repellent, ideal for outerwear and activewear, though it may reduce breathability and wear off after multiple washes. The moisture-absorbent finish enhances the fabric’s ability to wick moisture away from the skin, keeping the wearer dry and comfortable, with effectiveness decreasing with frequent washing. The anti-bacterial finish inhibits the growth of bacteria on the fabric, reducing odours and promoting hygiene, but its properties can diminish over time with repeated laundering.
