Yarn & fabric sourcing is the foundation of quality apparel manufacturing. While we have strong capabilities in Knitting & Dyeing, allowing us to make the fabrics leading to better control over quality and production times, we also source a lot of high-end & rare fabrics as per our customer's needs. Yarn on the other hand is sourced from vendors & mills, with whom we have decades of trust & experience. The selection of yarn determines the fabric's feel, durability, and overall quality. At Plakads Apparel, we prioritize sourcing high-quality yarn to ensure our products meet the highest standards.

  • 40s Count Pure Cotton Yarn: Available in quantities, ideal for finer fabrics like cotton interlock, this is also high-quality combed & compact yarn.
  • 20s Count Recycled Cotton Yarn: Also stocked in smaller quantities, supporting sustainable practices and used in Fleece Production, this has seasonable availability as this is used exclusively in high GSM winter wear only.
  • Tencel: Rayon Fabrics either certified or generic are also available in a variety of GSM; some of the fabrics are kept in our warehouses also, for samples and small orders.

Our Capacity and Expertise

Our yarn sourcing is predominantly from Indian mills, ensuring the quality and reliability of Indian cotton. We do not purchase carded yarn or mixed qualities, only certified combed yarns. We occasionally test our yarns at select labs to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards.

Managing logistics efficiently, we maintain a stock of popular yarns to reduce lead times drastically. Cotton and recycled yarns typically take 2-3 weeks to arrive, while special yarns may take 3-5 weeks. However, since we keep sufficient yarns and undyed fabrics fabrics in stock, this time is cut short to mere hours of logistics, under most conditions. This stock management allows us to meet urgent demands without compromising on quality.

Our typical minimum order quantities (MOQs) can be as low as 100 KGs due to our excellent relationships with agents, mills, and vendors, although larger quantities of 15-16 tonnes are advisable for domestic sourcing.

We do batch material composition testing on fabrics for with acclaimed local labs run by the textile committee. We ensure our yarn suppliers hold necessary certifications such as Oeko-Tex and GOTS and can pass transactional certification for the same, however the process for them same requires a larger quantity order.

Contribution to Final Product Quality

The quality of yarn significantly impacts the final product. Using high-quality combed yarn ensures a smooth finish and durability, essential for premium garments. Inferior yarns can lead to a poor finish, regardless of excellent stitching or dyeing. Our commitment to sourcing transparent, high-quality yarn underscores our dedication to producing superior garments.
